It
is the practice of many employers to conduct a basic skills test
that will measure a job candidate's skill or understanding in one or
all of the areas of basic math, spelling and grammar.
It has been the
experience of the Office of Employment and Training that when a job
seeker applies for a position requiring a basic skills test, often
the reason for failure or poor performance is, for the lack of a
better term, simply a matter of "being a little rusty". It is likely all you
may need to improve your chances of acing that next test you
encounter on a job interview is to refresh or brush up on the
basics.
So, when you are
preparing for that next job interview, don't overlook the importance
of re-acquainting yourself with fractions, grammar usage,
punctuation, etc., by going through the Testing Workshop Sections
provided in the Virtual Workshop Center.
And good luck on
that next job interview!
